It was 40 years ago today. A little rock n’ roll musical written by out-of-work actor, Richard O’Brien, premiered at the 63-seat theatre, The Royal Court Theatre upstairs. Young actors Tim Curry, Julie Covington, Chris Malcom, Richard O’Brien, Patricia Quinn, Rayner Bourton, Nell Campbell & Paddy O’Hagan made up the original cast. 15 months later, filming began for the film version of the hit musical which would become the longest running theatrical release of all time and the greatest and most well known cult film in history.

My boyfriend came to take care of my sick chicken when we were all out today. She was still trying to walk and was able to get around pretty well consider and at great distances. She was still eating a ton, and was lively and happy as she was lately mentally and very snuggly. He sent me some cute pictures of her and she got to have strawberries and worms. She had a beautiful last day of her life with him. I came home about 15 minutes before she died. She had labored breathing, wouldn’t drink water and had VIOLENT, I mean severe convulsions :(. I wrapped her up in towel and sang to her and talked to her telling her how she was a pretty, sweet bird, that I was so sorry and that I love her.Her convulsions were so bad at one point I couldn’t even hold her and her talons almost cut through my shirt and I had to sit her in the grass in the towel. Then when I tried ti pick her up again I literally barely grazed her feathers and she screamed in pain! :(

I don’t know what happened. It’s like it started off as a break or infection and she was trying to get better and we supplemented her with vitamins and antibiotics were on the way. She lived like this for close to two weeks without any pain. Her death though was so painful and scary for her. My boyfriend rushed over and by the time he did, we found her in the coop dead. To top it off it was my dad’s bday and he spent it tearing up and burying our poor sweet hen.

She is so special. Even at full health she liked to be held and sit in people’s laps like a cat. She would quietly cluck and gently peck your chest. She was beyond sweet. She even had a bf rooster and they were very attached to each other, and trust me chickens don’t do that!

I really don’t feel like getting up tomorrow at fucking 6:30 am and sitting in traffic for 2 hrs. My head is pounding and I feel really sick. It hurts so much to lose such a special animal. If I lose my dog, please just kill me.
